Regency's efficiency gains since joining Scaler
Regency shares how Scaler’s data platform supports scalable sustainability work
A conversation with James on efficiency, user experience, and scaling ESG work across portfolios
Luc: Today we are joined by James from Regency to talk about the efficiency gains his team has achieved since adopting Scaler. James, thanks for joining us for this barside chat.
James, you have been using Scaler for a while now. What has changed the most in the way your team manages energy and GHG emissions data?
James: The biggest change is how much easier and faster our entire workflow has become. Before Scaler, piecing together energy and emissions data across multiple portfolios was slow and resource heavy. Now everything is organised, consistent, and straightforward. A recent example comes from the prospect meeting where we used Scaler decarbonization roadmaps. I could walk through the whole process solo since all of the calculations are fully automated on the platform. Another firm showed up with eight people to explain how they do the same work manually. It was a perfect example of the scale and efficiency Scaler gives us.
You’ve said that user experience plays a big role in that efficiency. What stands out about the platform for you?
James: The simplicity. Everything is intuitive which makes it incredibly easy to work with energy and emissions data across different clients. There is no complexity for the sake of complexity. Because the platform is so clear, we spend far less time searching, double checking, or guiding people through processes. That ease of use reduces our costs and allows us to deliver high quality ESG work with smaller teams and faster turnaround times.
How has your experience been with Scaler’s account operations team as you’ve scaled up your work?
James: Honestly, the support has been impressive. We started working with Emily Welch and now work with Daniil Glotov and both have been great. Daniil especially has been incredibly responsive. One example that sticks out was right before a client presentation. We realised we did not have the latest roadmap for an asset which included updated emission factors we needed. I reached out to Daniil while walking to the meeting and he reacted immediately, sent the right version, and explained the update clearly. That level of support makes a huge difference.
Scaler recently released new AI features. How have you experienced those so far?
James: I’m really excited about them. It feels like another step that makes it even easier for us to use our clients’ data to create more impact. Every new feature is pushing things forward and helping us work smarter. What has been released already is strong, and I’m genuinely looking forward to everything that is coming in the next few months. It’s clear that AI is going to unlock even more efficiency and insight for us.
If you had to sum up the impact Scaler has had for Regency, what would your takeaway be?
James: It has streamlined our ESG work in a way that lets us operate faster, with fewer people, and with more confidence in the outcomes. That combination is exactly what allows us to support more clients, at higher quality, and with lower effort. It has become a real competitive advantage for us.
