Aurelien is a strategic and energetic product manager who sets direction for his team and bridges client needs with product execution. He's driven by the speed of building, the quality of collaboration, and the real world impact of sustainability tech. Outside work, he's equally hands-on, jamming on guitar, hitting the gym, planning his brother's stag-do, and working on his Spanish one day at a time.
Aurelien is an avid musician who loves to play music in his spare time. No weekend passes by without a jam session switching from electric to folk guitar, and finishing off with some piano.
Introducing Aurelien
What drew you to join a small sustainability tech company like Scaler?
To me, Scaler had the necessary foundations of a product that would become great and competitive worldwide. I was drawn by the experience of the founders, the strong technical and product background of Zlatan and the sustainability and real estate expertise of Luc, and the agility with which we could work and deliver on a plethora of features that would advance our industry. When I interviewed at Scaler’s office, the team and the people I today call my colleagues were full of energy and enthusiasm and I was impressed at everything they had built with such lean numbers. That energy and ambition was exactly what I wanted to be part of, and it hasn't let me down.
Coming from your background, what has surprised you most about working here so far?
The speed at which we could go from idea to shipped feature pleasantly surprised me. Coming in, I expected a slower pace than you find in larger organisations, what I found instead was a team that could move with urgency and still deliver on complex features. That's rarer than people think.
My Work
What's your role at Scaler, and what does a typical day look like for you?
I set the direction for my team, deciding what we build, in what order, and why. I keep a close eye on industry trends and clients need to make sure we're always solving the right problems, and I work to create the conditions for the team to do their best work day to day.
What energises you day to day in your work at Scaler?
I enjoy bringing features to life, analysing operational trends, setting procedures, and strategising. At the end of last year, I generated a “year-in-review” video of my team's work and it was very motivating to visualise everything we had achieved! The engagement from our customers also brings a strong sense of meaning to what I do, as does the collaborative environment Scaler fosters.
My Perspective
What is a strong belief you hold about the Real Estate and Sustainability space?
At a time when reducing energy consumption and CO₂ emissions is of paramount importance, from a socio-environmental, compliance, and economic perspective, we have a huge opportunity to continue building a fit-for-purpose software ecosystem, supported by emerging technological capabilities. With reporting standards consolidating, we are increasingly focusing on the risks and opportunities associated with green premiums, brown discounts, and scenario-based efficiency measures. This is shaping the new sustainability discourse.
What kind of impact do you hope to help create in the years ahead at Scaler?
The impact I want to have starts with the people I work with every day, fostering an environment built on collaboration, team spirit, and joy. On the product side, I want to give our users more actionable financial insights, evolving alongside market demands and combining the holistic and granular views of investment performance that our clients need.
