Scaler, the most innovative and AI-native sustainability data platform built for real estate professionals, announced the appointment of Sander Paul van Tongeren as Chief Commercial Officer. Van Tongeren, who co-founded GRESB and served as its CEO, brings unparalleled expertise in real estate, sustainability and investment management to Scaler's leadership team.

Van Tongeren's career spans more than two decades at the intersection of real estate investment and sustainability. As co-founder and CEO of GRESB, he helped build the organization into the global sustainability benchmark used by institutional investors to assess the sustainability performance of real estate and infrastructure portfolios worldwide. Prior to GRESB, he served as Head of Sustainability for Global Real Estate and Infrastructure at APG Asset Management, one of the world's largest pension fund managers, and as Portfolio Manager at CBRE Investment Management.

"After a rewarding time as a PropTech investor and a chapter in HealthTech, I'm excited to return to my first love: real estate," said van Tongeren. "Real estate companies spend too much time and money on data collection and reporting, leaving little room for what truly matters: optimizing performance and enhancing returns. Scaler is leading a smarter approach that automates the heavy lifting so teams can focus on better investment decisions."

"Sander Paul is one of the few people in the world who truly understands both sides of the sustainability data equation: what investors need and how to build systems that deliver it," said Zlatan Menkovic, CEO and Co-founder of Scaler. "He helped create the standard the industry reports to. Now he's joining us to fundamentally improve how that reporting gets done. Together, we're going to help real estate investors stop drowning in data collection and start making better decisions faster."

"Sander Paul's decision to join Scaler is a huge validation of our technology and vision," said Luc van de Boom, CIO and Co-founder of Scaler. "Having worked closely with Sander Paul during our time at GRESB, I have seen his passion for transforming the industry first-hand. His experience building a global standard from the ground up, combined with his deep understanding of investor needs, makes him the perfect partner to accelerate our growth and cement Scaler as the operating system for sustainable real estate investment."

Scaler's platform converts fragmented sustainability data into actionable, real time insights, enabling real estate teams to identify underperforming assets, build decarbonization roadmaps, and automate reporting for GRESB, SFDR, CSRD, and many other frameworks. The company works with customers managing over $500 billion in assets under management.

With the appointment of Sander Paul van Tongeren as Chief Commercial Officer, Scaler enters its next phase of growth with a strengthened leadership team and a clear focus on transforming how sustainability data is used across real estate portfolios. By combining deep industry expertise with an AI-native platform built for performance and decision-making, Scaler is well positioned to help investors and operators move beyond reporting and toward more resilient, higher-performing, and future-proof real estate assets.
