Meet Ika
Engineer, DJ, and believer that sustainability should be actionable
This year we welcomed Ika Pkhakadze to Scaler. With over 15 years of experience – from co-founding a startup to leading product development at BMW and Philips Lighting – he knows how to turn complex ideas into intuitive, scalable products. Beyond code, his creativity shows up in photography, woodworking, and even behind the DJ booth.
My Journey
Why Scaler?
I’ve worked in both big organizations and small startups. Big teams teach you structure, but smaller teams let you see the impact of your work immediately. At Scaler, that impact comes with an even bigger purpose: building tools that help companies take real steps toward being more sustainable. I’m happy to be part of a team that cares about the same things I do. We move quickly but with care – where quality isn’t just a checkpoint, it’s a habit that runs through the whole process.
What surprised me most?
What surprised me most is how naturally collaboration happens here. People openly share ideas, challenge each other in a constructive way, and keep quality at the center of everything. At the same time, there’s a strong drive to stay current. Everyone’s eager to use the latest tools and technologies, and what ties it all together is the shared commitment to the company’s mission. That energy makes the work modern, motivating and fun.
My Work
One thing I’ve enjoyed here is having the opportunity to be involved in different parts of the product journey. Sometimes it starts with sketching ideas and testing designs, then moves into shaping the right architecture and a strategy onwards and later into implementation. Along the way, there are always decisions about where it’s worth investing more time and where it’s better to move faster.
Outside of work, I love digging through vinyl crates, collecting records, and every now and then stepping behind the decks to DJ. Music is my way to reset. Sometimes it sparks inspiration, and other times it simply pulls me out of the digital world and helps me recharge.
My Perspective
Sustainability tech is no longer a side topic - it’s becoming central to how businesses think and operate. The tools we build today can have a direct impact on how companies make decisions tomorrow. Scaler fits right into that shift by focusing on clarity, quality, and usability, making it easier for organizations to actually act on their goals.
